WHY ARE EYELASHES AND EYEBROWS SO IMPORTANT?

Have you ever wondered why we have eyelashes and eyebrows? I mean, what kind of function could they possibly have??

Other parts of our body can be obvious like eyes to see, legs to walk, and a heart to pump blood to the whole body, but what does hair do??

Eyelashes

WHY ARE EYELASHES AND EYEBROWS SO IMPORTANT?  – Our eyelashes are more than just a way to look sexy and accentuate our eyes. They serve a very important function:

To protect the eyes from getting dirt, debris, oils, and dust from entering our eyes.

When we close our eyes, they form an impenetrable barrier locking those irritants out.

Eyelashes are also very sensitive, triggering a strong blinking reflex if anything touches them to keep them from getting any closer to the eye. This exact reflex can work against someone who wears contact lenses, and it’s why it can be difficult not to blink while applying makeup.

Eyebrows

Eyebrows are not just there to frame our eyes and give them depth and expression. They protect our eyes by channeling sweat and dirt from our forehead and surrounding so that they won’t enter the eyes and cause irritation. Keep them natural and don’t thin them out too much so that they can keep on protecting your eyes!

Allergic reaction to false eyelashes or mascara

Our natural eyelashes are the exact size and thickness we need to protect our eyes, keep moisture in and dirt out. Sometimes false lashes or makeup products can throw this balance off and cause itchiness, dry eyes, stye eyes, and more.

If you find yourself excessively tearing, feeling irritation, itching, or pain, you may be allergic or sensitive to a specific eye product and it may be time to chuck it out.

Your eyes are your window to this world- take care of them!
